Hotel Sonne - Chronicle
Franz Xaver Zangerl was the youngest child of Heinrich Zangerl and the father of Eugen Zangerl.
He lived with his brothers Ignaz and Eugen in Wippas Hoamatl. On 15th May 1933 Franz married Maria Anna Walser.
The Wippas brothers soon became aware of the commercial significance of the emerging tourism and were employed as mountain guides, skiing instructors, taxi drivers and hut-keepers from a young age.

The flair of the
One of Franz Zangerl's special characteristics was his curiosity and sociableness. There was hardly a person who Franz seen coming through the village who he did not catch. If necessary, he would even go out onto the street in his socks in order to investigate the goings-on. In this respect, his son Eugen adopted some characteristics from his father.
In the shortest time possible he managed to question everything which seemed important to him, including standards of living, employment and primarily income.
Purchase of Haus Trisanna

Agnes Zangerl, born Falkner 09.01.1943
"The capable women behind the successful man" Agnes Zangerl was born on 9th January 1943 in Umhausen in Ötztal.
Agnes Zangerl married the handsome skiing instructor Eugen Zangerl on 3rd June 1963. Agnes had a sound gastronomic education behind her and worked in companies in Hochsölden, St. Anton to name a few places, before she came to Ischgl, where she got to know Eugen. This was in February. The wedding was held four months later, in June.
The history of the Hotel Sonne
In 1926, the old guesthouse Sonne (see image 1 and 2) was renovated and expanded by the then Wirt Aloys, an event which was even reported in the newspapers. In 1970, Eugen and Agnes Zangerl bought the guesthouse Sonne. Image 3: A hotel brochure from the 1930s.
Here you can see an old hotel brochure from the 1960s which was always printed together with the Hotel Silvretta as the Hotel Silvretta belonged to the brother of Eugen - Heinrich Zangerl.
The Hotel Sonne today
This is how the Hotel Sonne looks today. Here you can see exactly what Agnes and Eugen have made of this guesthouse. In the summer of 2004, the old Wippas Hoamatl was demolished and reconstructed into a hotel as an extension.
